On March 26, 2024 our Auxiliary made a substantial donation of $30,000 to our Health Centre, bringing our total contributions to $79,000 for this fiscal year ending March 31, 2024.
We are also thrilled to share that we achieved our financial goal with a gross income exceeding $100,000. We could not have done that without our incredible volunteers.

Our 1st Fashion Exchange Wine & Cheese was a huge success. Forty four women enjoyed a lively social afternoon with tasty refreshments. They had great fun choosing from a fine selection of quality clothes, shoes, jewellery and accessories.
We raised $1004.06 for the Bargain Barn and look forward to making it an annual event. Sincere thanks to our enthusiastic volunteers and to everyone who attended. Lesley Durrant, Event Coordinator

President Ileana McBain presents the Auxiliary's cheque for $30,000 to Board President Jackie Ordronneau and Administrator, Susanne Richter, at their AGM on November 27, 2022. That's a total of $61,500 donated to the Health Centre from the Bargain Barn this year.
Earlier, we let you know the following:
"The Board would like to reassure our volunteers and customers that we will soon be selling children's merchandise. We have joined the BC Association of Healthcare Auxiliaries for their benefits and in addition, we have obtained the coverage we need from another insurer to re-open the children’s department. A grand opening will be announced when we are ready to commence sales." Unfortunately, we were recently advised that, because our Health Centre is owned by our community and not by the Provincial Government, we do not quality for their insurance. It was a big let-down and delayed solving this problem. We assure you we are actively pursing this issue because we know that this department is a vital resource to our community. The Board would like to thank all of our volunteers for the hours they dedicated to the running of the Bargain Barn and to our customers for supporting us.
Our sales have shown a steady increase over the past months and for January – September we earned over $61,750. During July and August, our half day Friday opening added just shy of $3,000. Extra thanks to the volunteers who helped out with this extra shopping initiative. Our e-bay sales are lower this year but still brought in $5,700 for collectables. We have donated $9,000 to the Harbourside Friendship program that Marlene Cymbalist organizes for seniors. Our $3,000 bursary and citizenship award was given to Holden Charlton who is pursuing a career in physiotherapy. In November, we will give a $30,000 donation to our Health Centre for a grand total this calendar year of $61,500. These funds are used to fund social and support programs at our Health Centre as well as health services, especially nursing services, to keep our health care local. |
